2018 - 2019 Ballon d"Or Prediction With Odds

The list of nominees for the Ballon d’Or, the annual award presented by France Football, was earlier this year. The 30-man shortlist boasts of some incredible talent, but the Messi - Cristiano Ronaldo reign might just come to an end this year, with reports stating that the two, who have each won the coveted award five times each, are not in the top 3 halfway through the voting process, opening up the possibility of someone else coming out on top this time.

Luca Modric To Win Ballon d"Or - 2/5

Luca Modric seems to be a clear favorite among most bookmakers. The Croatian captain proved his worth this World Cup, playing a significant role in his team’s success in the tournament, guiding them to the finals and winning the Golden Ball Award.

Additionally, he was named The Best FIFA Men’s Player OF 2018 for his performance, beating out Cristiano Ronaldo and Salah. Apart from his national team, Modric has been phenomenal at Real Madrid as well, helping his side bag another Champions League trophy last season. He is the current holder of the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Award and was also named best midfielder. Several pundits regard him to be the best midfielder of his generation, and he is undoubtedly a top contender for the Ballon d’Or.

Antoine Griezmann To Win Ballon d"Or - 11/2

Antoine Griezmann is another favorite this year. Back in 2016, he came in third. This World Cup, the French forward scored four goals for his team and was named the man of the match in the finals against Croatia. He also won the Bronze Ball, for being the third best player of the tournament.

Atletico Madrid has had quite an unbeaten run as well. The won the both the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup, and also placed second in the La Liga. Griezmann, to a large extent, played a crucial part in the success of both his teams and stands a good chance at winning the award later this year.

Cristiano Ronaldo To Win Ballon d"Or - 12/1

Another common name you’d find floating at the top of the bookies’ list is, of course, the Portuguese striker, Cristiano Ronaldo. If he did manage to win the award this time around, it would be his 6th Ballon d’Or, a world record. He didn’t have the best start with Juventus, but he is still a quality player. Despite rumors of Cristiano Ronaldo not being in the top 3, the odds of him winning, according to numerous bookmakers, is still pretty high.

Raphaël Varane To Win Ballon d"Or - 16/1

French journalist Eric Macruth tweeted that counting half the votes the Real Madrid center-back, Raphaël Varane made it into the top 3. The French Defender was also a part of the winning squads of the Champions League and the World Cup, where he put up a high performance. At 25 years old, he is in great form, and in the opinion of many, deserves to win.

Kylian Mbappe To Win Ballon d"Or - 20/1

The 19-year-old prodigy also unsurprisingly made it on to the list and is one of the top contenders for the Ballon d’Or. His performance at the World Cup was nothing short of extraordinary, where he received the Best Young Player Award.

Mbappe was instrumental in France’s triumph in Russia, and he also finished as the joint second highest goal scorer of the tournament. Many often draw parallels between him and Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi when they were his age. His season at PSG, thus far, has been great.

So far, he has managed to score 11 goals in just nine appearances. Regardless of whether he wins or not, he’s young, full of potential and has a bright career ahead of him.
