He is a Japanese soccer player born on June 4, 2001, in Kawasaki. Takefusa Kubo initiated his soccer career from an early age. Whit only four years old, he played for the Sakahama Football club, of which his father was the coach. At the age of seven, Takefusa Kubo commenced playing for FC Persimmon, a local club in Kawasaki. His performances drew the attention of other academies in his region. In August 2009, he participated at an FC Barcelona Soccer Camp at the age of eight. He got the Most Valuable Player award in that event, and the Catalan club began to follow him.
In April 2010, the Barcelona School selected him as a member of its team. On that occasion, he participated in a tournament held in Belgium. His team finished third, and Takefusa received the award to the best player of the tournament. Upon returning home, he began playing for the Kawasaki Frontale youth team. In August 2011, Kubo received an invitation to join the Barcelona Youth Academy in La Masia. This way, he would begin to show his talent in Europe. During his first full season, 2012-13, he was the league's top scorer with an impressive 74 goals in 30 games.
During the 2014/2015 season, Barça promoted Takefusa to its infantile squad. At this moment, his drive and determination became his most valuable characteristics. He liked to take down players who were older and bigger than him. This Japanese football jewel impressed Barcelona until FIFA sanctioned the Catalan team in 2015. FIFA considered that FC Barcelona violated the international transfer policy for the under 18s with this boy. In this regard, FIFA prohibited FC Barcelona from signing Kubo. Besides, an order was issued for Barça to rescind his contract.
Thus, Kubo returned to Japan. He played between November 2017 and June 2019 for the teams FC Tokyo and Yokohama FM. With these clubs, he accumulated 7 goals and 5 assists in 36 games in several competitions. When he turned 18, FC Barcelona's archrival, Real Madrid, signed him for six years. A month later, the whites loaned him out to play for RCD Mallorca. Then, the 2019/202 season would be his first one at the maximum Spanish football level. With the Balearic team, Kubo established himself as a regular player. He participated in 36 matches achieving 4 goals and distributing 5 assists.
Kubo made great progress in his first season in the Spanish league. His contract's value rose from 2 to 30 million Euros in the last season, according to the Transfermarkt website. Because RCD Mallorca descended to the Second Division, Real Madrid looked for another destination for the Japanese. The goal is he continues to develop at the highest level. So, Real Madrid loaned Kubo to CF Villarreal for the next season. The white team hopes Kubo plays with this team in the UEFA Europa League.
Kubo is one of the most promising youngsters in world football. He is a very technical, skilled attacking midfielder with a good shot on goal. Nowadays, his goal is to become the first Japanese soccer player to play for Real Madrid in the Spanish First Division.
