Frank Lampard - English Football Manager

Frank Lampard is perhaps the greatest figure in Chelsea F.C. history. Born in 1978 in Romford, England, he shone as a midfielder in English and European football. He is Chelsea's all-time top scorer. His father is Frank Richard Lampard, a former professional footballer who played for West Ham United. Likewise, he is the nephew of renowned coach Harry Redknapp.

Frank Lampard: The Playing Career Of The Chelsea Star

Lampard began his career with West Ham United's youth team in 1994, where his father was the second manager. He would debut in the Premier League with West Ham in January 1996. Then, he played for Swansea City in the Championship in October of that year. In 1997 he suffered a serious injury. Yet, on his return, he showed that he would be an important player in English football. His 14 goals of the 1999/2000 season established him in the elite. In 2001 Chelsea signed him for almost 18 million Euros. Between October 2001 and December 2005, he set a record of 164 league games played consecutively.

Frank Lampard helped Chelsea win three Premier Leagues, four FA Cups, and two Football League Cups in England. Internationally, he won a UEFA Champions League and a UEFA Europe League with the Blues. He was named twice "England Player of the Year" and three times "FA Cup Best Player." At the end of his soccer career, Lampard played in the North American MLS. He made his debut with the NYCFC on July 1, 2015, and was included in the MLS All-Star game that year. During his 2nd season, Lampard helped his team qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time. At the end of the season, Lampard retired from professional football. Frank Lampard was also an important player on the English national team. With his selection, he played 106 matches and scored 29 goals. He became the eighth footballer to play 100 matches or more with the English national squad.

Frank Lampard: A Successful Novice Football Manager

On May 31, 2018, he would start his coaching career. The Championship League team Derby County hired him as the head coach for the 2018/2019 season. He finished with an effectiveness of 59.6%, winning 26 games, drawing 15, and losing 16. He was close to taking this team to the Premier League by qualifying for the promotion play-off. Then, Derby lost the play-off final to Aston Villa 2-1. This performance was excellent for a rookie coach. For this reason, Chelsea quickly looked to returning him to the club as manager. He replaced Italian Maurizio Sarri.

On July 4, 2019, Chelsea announced Frank Lampard's comeback as the Technical Director for the next 3 seasons. In his first campaign directing the club, he managed to place it in the fourth position of the standing. This outcome gave Chelsea a ticket to the next UEFA Champions League edition. Frank Lampard has achieved many successes in his career, both as a player and as a football manager. This English soccer legend is recognized for his great intelligence. Surely, this quality will lead him to become one of the great figures in world football history.
