Mason Mount: With The Future In His Favor
Chelsea Mason Mount

Chelsea Mason Mount

It is impossible to talk about what the 2021-22 season was like in the Premier League without mentioning the problematic situation that Chelsea FC went through. We cannot be sure how the economic situation affected the team due to the sanctions on its former owner, the Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich. Besides, the subsequent takeover by the new owner, the American businessman Todd Boehly, affected everyone related to the team, starting with the stability and future of its players. One of the players who suffered the most from this situation was the best Chelsea player during the season: midfielder Mason Mount.

Mason Mount

Mason Mount, the 23-year-old from Portsmouth, has belonged to Chelsea since 2005. He is one of the great jewels of the team and one of the most notable talents on the England national team. However, due to the crisis Chelsea experienced, he was among the lowest-paid on the team. Mount has a contract until 2024 and has become the trusted man of Thomas Tuchel. The German manager has seen the growth of the player. Indeed, thanks to Mount, his team managed to finish in third place, despite all the difficulties. Mount's professional career began with S. B. V. Vitesse of the Eredivisie. Chelsea loaned him to this club during the 2017-18 season, and he had an amazing debut. He scored 14 goals in 32 matches and was named the team's best player of the year.

The following season, he was loaned to Derby County of the English Football League Championship before returning to Chelsea in 2019-2020. The 2021-22 season saw Mount take on the attacking midfield the way only an experienced leader can. Despite his youth, he managed to stabilize and give depth and clarity to the offensive system that Thomas Tuchell established. He scored 11 goals in 32 matches, being the generator of many of Chelsea's attacking strategies. Mason Mount is an attacking midfielder who is still in formation and growth. But, so far, his style of play is remarkable. Mount stands out for his ability to move forward in midfield, pushing his teammates, and doing his best to do not to back down.

If Mason is effective at anything, it is absorbing passes and starting with dribbles that confuse opponents. His capacity to take full advantage of the midfield allows him to engage with the midfielders and the rest of the attackers. Additionally, Mount possesses plenty of strength and the agility to be mobile in and out of the goal area. He has an accurate shot and knows how to create plays that feed his teammates on offense. But the next few weeks will be decisive for the Mason Mount race. In this sense, there is no guarantee that he will stay with Chelsea much longer. Teams like Manchester United are already showing interest in his signing, and nothing is certain in this new era of Chelsea.

The only sure thing is that we will continue to hear about the great progress of this young star for years to come.
