Labouchere Sports Betting System

Labouchere sports betting system belongs to the line of negative progression betting systems. This means that the stakes are raised after each loss. These negative progression betting systems are also known as systems of chasing losses. Labouchere is a bit more complicated than some other famous negative progression systems (i.e., Martingale).

While being a bit more complicated than the others, Labouchere is still relatively easy to keep up with. It is executed in a couple of steps.

First, you have to put down a list of numbers. These numbers will determine the stake units. Be careful not to use too big numbers in order to avoid enormous stakes. Also, the bigger the list, the longer the cycle, so make sure your list isn’t too long as it will be difficult to end the streak successfully if it is. Advised number of units in the list is six to eight.

Let’s say we put together a list that goes: 1, 1, 2, 4, 5,7.

The second step is to add together the first number on your list with the last number.  The added number is the number of units your first stake will be. So, in this example - 1+7=8. So, eight is the stake of your first bet. In case that the bet is successful, you cross the first and the last number off the list, and you add together the remaining first and the last numbers. In this example, the list is now: 1, 2, 4, 5. Repeat this until there are no numbers left on your list.

In case your bet was unsuccessful, then you add the latest number you got to the end of the list. So, if you combined first (1) and the last number (7), you’ll get an eight. So, to make this work, just add an eight to the end of your list. In this example: 1, 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8.

Let’s put all of this into practice. Our list at the beginning is 1, 1, 2, 4, 5, 7.

Step 1: 1, 1, 2, 4, 5, 7. Stake = 1 + 7 = 8. Winning bet!

Step 2: 1, 2, 4, 5: Stake = 1 + 5 = 6. Losing bet.

Step 3: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6. Stake = 1 + 6 = 7. Winning bet!

Step 4: 2, 4, 5. Stake = 2 + 5 = 7. Winning bet!

Step 5: 4. Stake = 4. Winning bet!

End of the streak.

It’s obvious from our example that, while this system is rewarding, things can go downhill very fast. In case you rack up a couple of losses in a row, the stakes will skyrocket, leaving you in serious doubt whether to continue. Additionally, this can affect your decision making, perhaps making you more emotional and impatient, so be careful.

Don’t go for big numbers with Labouchere - at least not in the beginning. It takes time to master this system, and it can only be done with tons of patience and knowledge. Make sure to experiment and study this system deeply before committing to it! Explore here for more other betting systems
